Gynecomastia
Brief Description
Is the abnormal development of large mammary glands in males resulting in breast enlargement. The condition can occur physiologically in neonates, in adolescence, and in the elderly. If the breast have a female aspect in a male to remove is necessary surgery.
How is the procedure?
To correct gynecomastia is technically called reduction mammaplasty and can be performed with two technique:
1. Liposuction This requires insertion of a cannula, a thin hollow tube, through several small incisions removing the fat and tissue from the body by vacuum suction.
2. Excision is necessary if the areola will be reduced, or the nipple repositioned to a more natural male contour. Incision patterns vary depending on the specific conditions and surgical preference
Recovery time
Recovery is fast, although many factors are involved with determining your recovery, you will likely experience soreness and swelling for a few weeks, A small, thin tube may be temporarily placed under the skin to drain any excess blood or fluid that may collect. You will have to wear a man vest for at least 21 days.
Its important to avoid lifting your arms or heavy objects, carry children.
